My name is Brandon Lowe. I have been singing since I was 3 years old. My family has made a big impact on me through music. Both my aunt and grandmother are singers and they are great influences in my life. I was always told as a little child that I have a gift that no one can take away from me. I started off singing in the house and I had my on microphone. I would get on everyone’s nerves because I sang all the time. I would go across the street to my aunt’s house with my microphone to sing for them and they would take pictures of me singing in my pajamas.

My first real performance was at church, Reach Out for Life Christian Center. They had a Praise Team. They were so good I would go home and try to imitate what they were doing. As I got older I started going to my grandmother’s church, Ward Memorial A.M.E church in Washington, DC. They not only had good singers but they provided lots of love and support. The first time I sang at Ward was at a funeral. I was so young and I sang “His Eye is on The Sparrow”. I was so nervous but as I got older my nerves really settled down. The first choir I sang with was the Ward Choral Group at the age of 13 years old. My first solo in the choir was “Stand” by Donnie McClurkin. Then I joined a group called the Club Holy Ghost Praise Team. This gave me a chance to find my voice and it gave me more practice in performing in front of people. During this time I sang at school also.

I sang in a group in middle school called the Patriot Singers. This was a group you had to audition for to get in. I sang with them for three years until I graduated to go to high school. I also got a chance to sing with the Anne Arundel All County choirs in eighth grade. This was a great experience. I also got to do a solo in the group which was really a good experience. I have also participated in this all boys camp named Back to the Basics Music Academy. The musicians at this camp were ages 12 to 18. We recorded a song entitled “I’m looking for Love”. I had the privilege to be the lead vocalist on the song and I also was in the back ground vocals. This was a great experience in my life. I performed a song at the award banquet called “Tis So Sweet”. Currently, I also sing at my high school. I sang at Back to School Night with the choir. We sang “Grateful” by Hezekiah Walker. I was chosen to do the ad lib at the very end.

Singing is a big part of my life and I enjoy it to the fullest. I hope to share my gift with others the rest of my life.
