On Monday, March 8, 2010, DC-CAP will hold its second annual DC-CAPital Stars Talent Competition and A Night of DC-CAPital Stars Gala at The John. F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The event serves as the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year. The competition showcases outstanding artistic abilities of college-bound students from the District of Columbia and voting begins the week of February 1. Specifically, the top 44 auditions will be posted on DC-CAP’s Web site for the public to view and choose their favorites in vocal, instrumental or dance category. Voting will continue through February 12. From the online tallies and input for a local panel of judges, 10 finalists will be selected to showcase their artistic abilities at a special performance on Monday, March 8, 2010 in the Eisenhower Theatre at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. A panel of celebrity judges, along with help from the audience, will select the winners who will receive DC-CAP college scholarships that will be applied toward the student’s first year of college. Following the performance, DC-CAP will host its second annual gala dinner dance.
